Challenges For Other Students
__________________________________________
Individual Students
- Some students might feel uncomfortable around the student, and they might not know how to approach them
- Students may want to talk to the student, but fear being judged by their peers so they ignore the students instead
Students need to be aware
- They need to know how to be supportive and respectful of the students needs
- Students have to learn how to communicate with the student
- They need to understand that their own needs might be different than that students
Programs
- Offer support for students to learn how to communicate and behave while they are in a classroom with a student that has autism
- Many students report feeling anxious after the programs, because they are unsure if they can display the appropriate behaviour
